Thank you for bringing up this. Any sort of modification is illegal here but ricers are the one who only get tickets from police. No sleeper cars get a single ticket except for speeding. I own a 1997 Maruti Suzuki Zen(suzuki cervo) which comes with a 1litre carburated 4 cylinder engine mated to a short ratio MT. I recently replaced the Chassis which is literally illegal and i swapped the Engine. It is a G13BB MPFI which is a 1.3 litre engine runs on a 15 inch Mistubishi Cedia OE wheels were the stock comes in 12 inch. Its illegal here. But Car guys will do whatever they needs. All we need to do is "DON'T BE A RICER".😁😁😁

You might actually think the law passed by supreme court based "in the interest of environment" but actually who it actually favours are the multinational cooperates who owns the different brands of vehicles. What really happened modifications in India was A guy will buy a cars base model say Maruti Suzuki Swift Cost around 7 lakh rupees (about $9000) and he will spend as much as 3 or 4 lakhs (about $4000 dollar) on modifications, that's mainly on paint job, music system, wider tyres, stickers and decals, hood scoops and spoiler and shit most don't really touch performance modifications which usually alter the emission norms. So the cars manufacturers are at a loss where there high end trims are not getting enough sale, conveniently this law helped them a lot, as now the manufacturers are offering normal modification items as said above are provided by the manufacturer itself for the price, eg latest Mahindra Thar Mahindra offering optional change in its front grill that gives a look closer to the Jeep. And if anyone made an essential modification like adding a fog lamp (not saying numerous unnecessary lamps, just one or two that's really needed for better visibility) will get penalty from the police. Now tell me who does this law really favours.
